I've been hearing plenty of things:
Words blown to me by chance,
Battle cries, and what lovers sing
To ignore the circumstance.
I've been giving people their due,
Living life their way.
I respect whatever they choose,
And will hear out what they say
But sometimes, I just can't help
But to be overwhelmed.
And most the time, when there is unrest,
I just laugh, because I could care less.
Causes of stone and steel
Come crumbling to the ground;
If man is man, he need not wave
Your banner or blade around.
Kings and lords are only men,
Like the millions they command.
Just see them as your equal, then
Rise, and take your stand.
All this woe and misery,
When we could live like gods.
So vanquish this, our mystery,
And break the punishing rod.
Temples turn to dust and blow
Away with the wind;
Our evanescence is shown,
Time and time again.
Though man's achievement is great,
What's greater still
Is his chance to mold himself
To anything at will.
The question is if he will.
My young ambitious heart is telling me
That all this is not out of our reach;
But my eyes, they plead a different view
Upon seeing all of you.
Stagnancy is the way to be.
For those who dwell in apathy,
The common cry isn't "come be free,"
but "I could care less."
Mountains are but rocks,
No obstacle impossible,
If we choose to stand, and stand to see
That indifference will never be
The cause of change, the change we need.
But you could care less.
